THIS. I've been somewhat active for the past few days and this comes as a surprise. I missed the first anniversary and now I missed the second because it didn't get advertised.

Believe it or not, I don't really go into the community discussion page, and while I've noticed it was around anniversary time from last year's experience, there was no word whatsoever on the dates of when gift giving would be open. So no, that isn't really an excuse for not announcing it on the main page. It's a poor practice for a website to hold an event without officially announcing it.

Ever since the beginning, 99% of all MS events are not openly stated in the news, they are discussed in the Community Discussion. It's good practice to simply pop in there and look at the new threads. The few things that get posted in the News are the ones that are not usual, such as contests. There's also the fan sites that have calendars of events.
Plus, even if you don't go to the forums, the eggs have the 'give' option on them, so all you have to do is go to your keep. The bottom of the main page of the keep will tell you how many presents you have received.
There are plenty of ways to know that there is an event going on with out the staff holding your hand and pointing it out.

WAY late, I don't go on too much... But happy birthday! Thanks SO much to the people who sent me eggs! I have alot more. I especially like the phoenix's. Especially the one that was breeded from someone. I don't know why but that is one of my favorites for some reason....... I got 25 eggs. I logged on today and I was like I have 25 gifts!!! And I was like, it BETTER be eggs since I have 4! And it was and I have a ton of eggs. Thanks MS I love your site!

I figure it's related to the crash, but when I click to open one of the 5 presents i supposedly have, it says no such creature exists.
