Looking for Dragons (added another example)

Postby Lazuli » January 10th, 2012, 6:20:06 pm

Pretty much, I am just getting all my book ideas started. This one will probably become the main one I will work on, since my parents have been pushing me to try it for quite a while now.

It is a how to draw dragons and fantasy creatures book. Mostly dragons, though.

So, what do I need from you guys?
I need dragon ideas. These can be anything, from your original characters to something you just made up on the spot. But, I do need a very detailed description of their appearance and/or reference pictures (<--More important).

What do you guys get out of it?
The dragon, if I choose it, will be added to the book. You will get a free piece of art of that dragon, most likely fully colored, possibly with a background. You might also receive a full reference sheet. These are all my choice, depending on what I put into the book, but you WILL get a piece of art. If you submit the dragon via note on deviantart to MythsAndDreams then there is also the possibility that I will ask for your address if I choose it, which of course you may deny giving, so that I may send you a free signed copy of the book (when/if it is published)

Note that I cannot guarantee that any book will ever be published, but I will still give the art piece for free either way, if I choose your description. I also reserve the right to change certain things about the dragon, just in case.

Thank you all! Now, here is an example of my most recent work, and probably the best example of my current style, since I just recently changed:

EDIT: And a new example. Also an example of another new style I've been working on, which will likely use more often.

So, do you want different breeds/species of dragon? Like wyverns, Eastern, Western type things? But with evolutionary qualities to back up the way they've evolved? Cuz personally, I LOVE playing with evolution, and I'm a better descriptor than off-hand dragon artist, but I can still draw a fair bit. :3

For this one, anything will do. Realistic or not. The other book (in another thread), however, is where I am looking for plausible species that I can put a scientific description and ecology to. Here, I will simply be showing how to draw dragons.

Edit; I think the most interesting is the Amphisbaena.

The lung and quetzalcoatl were kind of a given, as common types of dragons. But that amphisbaena (did I spell that right?) is very interesting and unique! I'll add it to my list of possible pieces. Thank you! <3
