It doesn't look like you pixel them, except for the lines. Everything else looks kind of like you 'painted' it when you colored. Are these meant to be sprites, or no?

What do you mean by pixel them? I used gimp...? And they are supposed to be sprites... I know I'm not the best... XP

One more thing.... HOW DO ANIMATE?!
I use GraphicsGale for Spriting, it´s a programm specifically made for spriting and quite easy to use. The free edition can´t open/save gifs but that can easily be circumvented by taking a screenshot of the finished sprite and pasting it to GIMP for saving as a gif.
For animations I create all the single frames in Grapics Gale on separate layers. For example if you look at my avatar, to make him blink there is one image with his eye open, one with it closed. For the stamping hoof there are roughly 6 different images with different stages of the movement. I use ImageReady to make the actual animation by setting the order of the images and how long they are shown, but you should be able to do it with GIMP as well. Not sure how good it is but here´s a tutorial explaining how to do it (I´ve only worked with GIMP once so I don´t know how to do it myself):
http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Simple_Animations/

Your lines look quite good, just pay a bit more attention to avoiding flatlines (see the neck of the ostriches, the back of the meerkat) and rough angles (see meerkat paw, neck, head).
Apart from the lines what you do are not sprites, ML1201 is quite right about that. Sprites are drawn pixel by pixel, no automatic antialiasing, transitions etc. can be used. What you do is digital painting on a small scale. You can easily see the difference in the colour count, my sprites seldom exceed 30 or max 40 colours while yours have thousands.
Regardless of technique your work needs more contrast to give it more depth, use the whole range of brightness for shading.

Munin!
I have a female GB Frigaes Reindeer. ^.^ I'm just waiting for the trade to go through. Once the person accepts the trade, I shall send you your reindeer.
<3

Anyway, would it be all right if I asked you to do a sprite of my dog? XD

No, don't do the little girl with her. XD;
...Yeah. >_>; If you need more references, I can find one or two. Or if you don't want to sprite her, I can find something else for you.

I love spriting dogs and yours looks cute :italian:
A few more refs would be good in any case, the more I know the closer to the real appearance the sprite will be.

Oh wow! Okay. Thank you so much. :) Now that I understand spriting better, I should be able to improve. See my biggest thing is (I'm a weird one. I will admit...) I use paint to make lines and to do pixel by pixel (what you say is actual spriting) art. XP Which is probably not the easiest way to do it, but with how slow and old my computer is, it's hard to run too complex of programs for too long. XD

Buuut anyways. that's enough of a ramble from me. "SPRITE ALL THE THINGS!" *runs off to do better*
