That does look much better. Thank you! It's possible that I should have tried to make a smaller sprite instead of going so large. I'm definitely going to play around with it some more until it reaches...the point that it should reach, though.

Sure, it was meant more as an example than anything else and I wouldn´t have called it done if it was one of my sprites

Hey there Munin dear!

I have been stalking this thread for a while now, and I have a question.

This is a basic outline (without the tail hairs yet) of a Kirin based upon MS's Chestnut/Autumn Kirin Doni's. I was curious if you see any errors I should work on before I continue it or work on coloring? Ignore the way the lines are- my PS crashed so I'm using Corel Painter which this is my first time using the program so I didn't think it would come out so pixelated. (Later Corel might become my Spriting program. :3)

Anyways, enough rambling. I'd love to hear anything- especially about the antler- that you have to say. :3

(From the looks and description I do believe it's only one antler, and I tried to go by the sprite with which way the horns point- but I could change it if it just looks weird. )

That looks great, I don´t see any obvious things that would need fixing. =)
The antler looks a bit...unwieldy at the moment, I´d suggest making it a bit thinner and longer, like this:


And yes, it is only one antler, kirins are often referred to as "asian unicorns" (however accurate that may or may not be).

I´d love to see this when it´s finished, would you mind showing it to me then?

I've been playing around with pixels for a year and a half or so, but those have all been pixel patterns. I've done a bit of pixel art now and then, but this is the first time I've made a... "serious" (? ) pixel art. I got a few critiques on it, so I've been improving (or at least I think so. xD). I was wondering if you could help me with it also? It's a pretty basic fish, so I'm not sure exactly what kind it is... I just went with the general fish shape and color, then threw in what I thought looked good. Here are the different stages I went through~

1 ~ Lineart + Base color + Some shading

2 ~ Scales + More shading + Blended in pectoral fins

3 ~ Redid the scale shading + Made a shadow for the dorsal fins + Shaded tail and pectoral fins


Critique as hard as you would like to, because I would like my fishy to be perfect. Also, thank you in advance. c:

The fish looks pretty good, the scale texture is lovely. There are only two things I´d change:
1) The head is not symmetrical while the placement of the eyes indicates we are looking at it from directly aboe. I´d move the "upper"/far eye back a little.
2) You´ve got two or three flatlines, one at the transition between head and right side of the fish and two very distinct ones where the body connects to the tail fin. I´d stretch out the tail a tiny bit more to break those long straight lines.

I didn't know what exactly you meant by the eye, so I skipped that part for now...

For the flatline near the head, I shortened it a bit then stretched out the pixels next to it. For the flatlines that connects the body to the tail, I stretched out the tail like you said and moved it a little to the side, then added a few more pixels around the flat lines.
