Name: Xiau(Z-eye-u) Dragons
Basic Reference Picture
Height: 4.5-5m or 14-16 ft.
Weight: 1200-1800 lbs.
Length: Skull to Tail 8-9m or 25-30ft.
Habitat: Mountains, Jungles, Coastline, just about anywhere.
Prey: Omnivorous
Colors: Vary by habitat/element. Males have more vibrant colors than females usually.Fur patterns are inherited.
Wings: Can be feathered, webbed, or both. Feathers are more dominant trait.
Coat: Depending on the climate they inhabit it can be thicker/longer or shorter.

Skullplates are the most noticable difference between the two it's sort of like an exoskeleton sort of thing. Though they have bone underneath as well.
The skulls are like armor and are made of a lightweight bone material. It is lightweight but is very tough almost impenetrable. They toughen with age. Newborns skullplates are like a thin shell and can sometimes be seen through. Making them very fragile.
The front curves downward like a beak. But they have fully functioning jaws, along with some teeth. Though they are small because they rarely hunt prey.
Males have a sheild over their eyes, and hence have holes so they can see out of. They have four horns/fins on each side. The top and bottom are the longest in length. The bottom set are flexible because they are really just extensions of their ears.
Females have just two large horns that grow from the back, these can curve up or down. Their horns are thicker than the males.

Xiau Dragons are a creation of mine, with the help of my old friend Tia in 2005 when we were in the 7th grade. She and I both made up stuff all of the time x3
Xiau doesn't mean anything, we just liked the sound of it so it stuck.
Originally I created them they had different elements, for instance my OC's Kira and Alex, Kira has power over fire. Alex has water as his element. I know that's cliched but what the heck I was in middle school
They also originally have human forms like us
That they can phase in and out of freely.
Their mortal enemies are Oryboran dragons. Oryboran venom can kill them easily.
Call them gryphon-like if you want but I call them dragons just because I can and because that's what they're meant to be.
