I'll bite. Opening paragraph:
His foot came down on blood when he slid out of the car at the curb in front of The Hub. Grimacing, Azaiah used the car's hood to balance himself and turned his foot up to look at the bottom of his boot. In the orange lights of downtown Elysiana, he could only see dark streaks across his boot's treads, but he supposed—given the way his night was going—that he should just be glad it was only blood. He rubbed his boot against a clean patch of the sidewalk and stepped around the rest of the blood where it puddled in a slight dip in the concrete. From the glint of the white teeth scattered nearby, someone had come out on the wrong side of either a fist or a spell
