I adore the Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams (author of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.) It follows the tales of two characters who are both caught up in the same mess in different ways. All of the characters have their own quirks. It gives good detail but doesn't drown you in it. I've read the book three times since it was given to me last year and still am not sick of it yet.

I really like the Wheel of Time series. Robert Jordan (the author) does a really good job of building the world around you and making a connection between you and the characters. I'm on book five out of fourteen, and I already feel like the in-book world is so... familiar. It's like I've been living there my whole life! It's a great series!

Despite my age, I do believe my favorite fiction book is "Howl's Moving Castle" by Diana Wynne Jones.

Amazing Cressida Cowell wrote my all time favorite series- How to train your dragon. I love them! I suppose that you have seen the epic and well-animated motion picture created in honor of them. But I have to tell you - Fact: HTTYD os EXTREMELY DIFFERENT to the books. No, honestly. I won't spoil the story, but the HTTYD books will change the way you think about adapted films FOREVER! Trust me on this. You'll know what I mean when you read them (if you do.)

Fav memoir: "Let's pretend this never happened" by Jenny Lawson. She's hilarious and very open about her struggles with depression and mental illness, and also all the weird taxidermy people keep giving her.

Fiction: "FEED" by Mira Grant: 40% politics, 20% zombies, and the rest is a love-song to humanity and the little zombie-virus that could.

The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. It's the Napolenoic War, but with dragons. I love it. I've bought six copies of book 1 so far 'cause I keep giving them away.

The Martian by Andy Weir. Love the movie. Love the book.

Shoggoths in Bloom and Other Stories by Elizabeth Bear. Fantastic Science Fiction. Worth it for itself and also for the talking parrot-cats.

Nonfiction: "At the Water's Edge: Fish with Fingers, Whales with Legs, and How Life Came Ashore but Then Went Back to Sea" by Carl Zimmer. He's a really accessible science writer and this is a great breakdown on evolution and how it happened and what fossil evidence we have every step of the way. Also his book "Parasite Rex" is about the evolution of parasites and it was way cool but also made my skin crawl and I had to stop 'cause I felt sick a couple times, so be warned

Halo: Evolutions is a great book that you cannot just read once

Not sure how many of you here have even seen it, but I raher enjoyed Fang Girl by Helen Keeble. Just whn it looks like it may get predictable, the writing will surprise you again.
The IKEA thing was hilarious.
