Gaea is your planet. Your plaint is divided up into 3 major continents. The 2 largest and flatted continents are where the humans and primitive dragon kind live. Pliqut is where the Darklings live in secrete from human kind. Humans often mistake the Darlings for just every day primitive dragons and that is the way that Darlings want it. Why you many ask? Because like in many stories in many worlds humans are the top predators of dragon kind and are very proficient at killing them. Pliqut is extremely mountainous all along its north shores, the shores facing the other continents, and only 1/5 of the continents eastern most side has flat plains. At one time the whole center of the continent was flat lands but one time, no one knows how long ago because no one lived after the catastrophe to tell the tail, a comet hit the western half of the continent. Now anything that hadn’t been mountain before the impact is underwater.

Humans:

Because of Pliqut’s super mountainous areas, humans feel that there is no reason to colonize or explore it. Humans have a hard enough time fighting monsters and dragons to eek out an existence on their 2 continents, that the thought of going to the homeland of dragons just seems like a bad idea and a waste of resources. Humans are advanced, some of the larger cities even have hovering cars that can only travel on special highways, but over all their communities tend to be small, have very few cares if at all, and most of all boats. Oh, And planes you can just forget about those. The monstrous reptiles of the sky obliterate anything they can catch, and there is nothing a dragon can’t catch with speed, numbers, or intelligence. Humans do not have mass communications because of their own wars and monsters constantly severing any communication cables. Anything that would be sent up into space would be shot down or destroyed for fear of it spying on other human settlements. Thus humans are to busy with warring with themselves and protecting their villages from monsters and there own flying reptiles to ever care what secrets Pliqut’s holds. Some brave souls have tried to sail to Pliqut, hoping that the mountains would be rich for mining, only to never be heard from again. It is presumed that the tides and reefs are just too much for any ship to ever make it to shore. Or the monsters of the deep are just too thick.

Human tech: Human technology is considered deadly and should be left when it is found. The last human technology that was found humans were able to track it back do a darkling village that was attempting to colonize and unused territory on another continent. Darklings were almost discovered by humans and all human things are viewed as dangerous

Darklings:

Humans, however, have totally nothing to do with anything. You will be playing a Darkling in the woodland village of Yxalz. “What is a darkling?” you may ask. It was said, that a long time ago, the god like dragons saw human evolve into their current state and said to themselves; “We can do that, and we can do it better.” And so they did. Dragons of all species came together, of all intelligences, power, and of all worlds to make the Darkling. Thus no 2 darklings have the same scale shape (some not even having scales at all), scale patterns, colors, feathers, body types, spikes fringe, tail shape and so much more. The odds of 2 darkling parents with just the same scale shape having just one ethling with the same scale shape would be considers very bizarre.

75% of darklings have 3 forms that they can all change into:

A human most form that has very little trace of their reptile nature, but only 0.01% can look so human that even other darklings cannot tell that they are darklings. Because no mater how hard a darkling tries they can never hide their slitted eyes. Most darklings in their human most form always have dark red skin like many tribal humans, but very few can make their hair color human looking or their eye color.

Their true form in which they are the perfect blend of dragon and human, for which they have all of the benefits and none of the weaknesses. This is how all darkling prefer to look and is most socially acceptable, and considered who they truly are. Some Darklings perfect form can look more dragon-like than others, and some can look more human than others. But it is always their form that is closes to 50/50 as they can get.

Lastly is their war form. This is when the darkling appears in its most dragon like in appearance. This form can range widely as there are a plethora of dragon species in the universe and in size as well. Some, only about 15%, have only just their dragon most form and appear very snake-humanoid like in appearance never getting larger than a human van. Darklings get larger in their war form as they age, but just because they are large doesn’t always mean that they are old. Some darklings can not change directly out of their war form, as they may still be agitated and their blood pumping too hard. A calm darkling can change back much more easily.

75% of all darkings have all 3 forms, 15% only have a war form, the remaining 10% has at least 2 and it has always been the human most form that is left out. Darkling have never been able to predict what darkling would be able to do; where and when they discover their other forms. It is widely believed that an ethling will find its other forms when it is ready. But all darkling hatchlings upon their hatching day are always born in their dragon most form.

Not all darklings have a breath weapon, but this is rare and they tent to make up for it in some other way.

Darklings are not just carnivores. Because of all the dragons it took to make them some will eat only fruit like a fruit bat, some that are prone to digging will only eat bugs and grubs, most flyers will lean to birds and poultry, and marine based will like fish and pond life. Very few are entirely vegetarians and a female can never truly be. But one thing all darkling agree upon is that human domesticated animals have lost much of their flavor. Cows and chickens are considered grows but turkeys and goats or sheep can still be on the menu.

Darklings do not have tattoos even in their most tribal cultures because they do not need them. Most all darklings can change their color hue precisely enough to look as thou they do have a tattoo. But they cannot change their natural spots and stripes that they are born with. Body jewelry is common. And piercings and gold chains thou horns or wings during special events is a must. During events when Queens and the Male elder are involved it is forbidden to be in war form. Piercings of metal while hunting is forbidden as any glint can tip of pray.

Beware of Twilight! Like all dragons they have excellent visions during the day, better at night, but its crap at twilight.

Darkling naming:

Darklings do not take each others last names when they are mated. But their daughters take their mothers last names and their sires last name becomes their middle and their son’s take their sires and their mothers last name becomes their middle name.

Darklings aging:

Darkling age thus: from birth to 5 weeks old darkling hatclings age so fast that they look like they are 5 years old. Thus they look 5 until they are actually 5 years old. Once they reach the age of 5, they age another 5 years in five weeks until they look like a human 10 year old. This continues until a darkling reaches the age of 20. Thus no darkling looks to be old than 20 or 25 for the rest of their natural life, no darkling has ever lived to see the end of their natural (that is of course, if there is one).

Until an ethling reaches maturity they are just as vulnerable as human children. Darkling can remember their hatching day. Some can even remember what their parents said before they were born and can understand the language, just not speek. But as darklings age (like in the 10’s of 100’eds) they begin to foreget things. Given enough age they can even forget their mothers and sires, even first born ethlings. Unless its intentional they still manage to never inbreed because they can ‘smell’, or taste with their tongue, if an individual is too closely related. This is how immortals can stand to live for so long, and why mortals that become mortal through a wish go insane.

3 styles of darkling:

There are the tank class and the flying class darklings. Tank class darklings are very strong and very big. They can be the size of a 2-story house in their war form. They have very heavy bones and are always flightless. Tank class darklings are encouraged to be ground hunters; in times of war they are trained to be ground soldiers and are the primary scouting force.

Flying class darklings have hollow bones so they are lighter to fly. Flying class can be wingless like the Chinese serpent snake dragons. They can also come in 6 limbed or drake form. But because of their lighter frame Flying class darkling are lightly built compared to the tank class, but the fastest flyers are trained for air fighting in times of war and also encouraged to be in aerial hunting groups.

The third for is little known as many that have it do not come into contact with air darkling and that is the mairen dragon water style bodies. Darklings do know that humans often confuse these darkling for mermaids so they care little about what they do.

Other than these differences, both tank and flyer classes are considered equally important for their jobs and hunting parties are often broken into 3 tanks and 3 flyers. Just in case prey runs out of the woods, then the flyers can often pounce from above. If the prey enters wooded areas can be ambushed by tanks as the flyers run it to them.

This aside, for those that are not the strongest or the fastest to be hunters, they are often used as reserve hunters who have other jobs within the village. But in the village of Yxalz tank class males are considered more desirable to the female darkling. And there is nothing more desirable than a tank class male that is high in the hunting ranks and a solder.

Male vs. Female

Male darklings can make their own body heat while a female cannot. For this reasons it is not uncommon, when single females outnumber single males, for a male to share his nest with two or possibly 3 females. Building a nest is one of the things a sire first teaches his sons. And in a family setting with young female children it is acceptable for them to sleep with their brothers or sires on a cold fall or winter night. They are also tought the importance of respecting fire so that even 5 week old girls are responsible enough to have a fire in their room.

Female darklings are 6 to 7 feet tall and drink the blood of their male counterparts first and foremost. Female darklings have so much magic power that just eating food regularly does not provide enough energy for them to stay alive on. Male darklings make more sugars than they need from eating, often making the seem hyper after a large meal, they are far more proficient at it. Females that have less magic power do not have to drink nearly as much blood than a more powerful female. Male darklings have an organ in their body called a blood bladder that allows them to hold 2 times the blood. Taking a lot for a male darkling to bleed out. Your average female of average magic power and strength can drain a male of all the blood in his blood bladder in an hour. Unless she uses a lot of magic or is in a long conflict she may not have to drink again for 5 days. The male can eat a large meal, such as half a deer, and regenerate all blood lost between breakfast and nightfall.

But a female darkling drinking the blood of a male is not violent or painful, perhaps at first, but it isn’t supposed to be. A female’s saliva had enzymes similar to what a male would make just before orgasm, thus the more licking the better it will feel. This biting in this way is called ‘the kiss’. Only a females one and only eternal life mate will just smell irresistible.

Some males just entering studhood, that are giving their blood for the first time, will be nervous and terrified. Wondering if their brothers where telling them the truth. For surely not, it doesn’t feel good being bitten by a boar, thus how could this.

Females do not come into their power (magic power) until their 11 to 12 years old when their tails begin to grow along with other curvy things. Thus females do not need to feed on blood until that age. Males come into their studhood at the same age.

Darklings magic power directly corresponds to their tail length. Average tail length for males is 4 to 5 feet long, females is 5 to 6. Anything over 6 feet (1%) is considered a dragon god and only the strongest gods become the leaders of the village. Sadly enough there has never been a male god in darkling history.

Example of magic: A male darkling that is into art of horticulture can make a plants used for magic potions grow over night. While a female with the same interest can make jungle vines grow so fast and besides that she can make a bridge spanning a chasm too wide to jump (100 feet).

A male that is of the earth digging variety will use magic to give him an edge while digging complex tunnels by just making himself swim through the dirt. A female with no interest in digging could make a trench around a large village in a day

Male Darlkings are between 7 to 10 feet tall. They are not magically inclined, perhaps being able to light a candle with the snap of their fingers or being able to cast a spell to make themselves faster, but nothing close to what a female darkling can do. For this other darkling cultures view males as the weaker sex, but even the strongest female in both magic and strength caught by a well-trained tank male could suffer grave consequences.

Male darklings can also color flush. Like all animals the male is more colorful than the female to attract her

NPC Example: In your village the most desirable male, just in status alone, is your next Queen’s identical twin brother (yes you read that right and I mean it that way). Malicath is tied as one of the strongest males of all three villages on Pliqut, he is a tank and next in line to be the leading general for your village. He is now too young for the job at age 26, as he is only 5 years past proper mating age. Malicath has black zebra stripes all down his back and tail and half way down his forearms, but when he color flushes, his skin turns bright white between the black stripes and his hair begins to brighten from a kiwi green to a bright florescent acid green. He has curly black goat like horn on either side of his head that when he color flushes the tips match his hair.

No male darkling has body hair, and anything that they would have close to human hair is actually fine spikes that can bristle or behave like normal hair. To be stabbed by this ‘hair’ is like being brushed by a fiber cable, very irritating buy not deadly.

Both male and female darklings are mature by the time their tails start to grow but just like humans, this is too young to find your mate (but not to young to give blood to another female of a similar age). It is considered acceptable for two darkling to mate for life at age 21. Once darkling reach this age males can give blood to any females of his age or greater. Before age 21 males can only give blood to females of at least 2 years of age of himself. Same rules apply for females.

Male darklings, when of appropriate mating age, tend to stay in their territories. While females tend to be nomadic. Unnom females, unless they are a queen, will take residents in their mates homeland. Where as Selarians will make (kidnap) their new mates come back to their village or city. While a Queen will always stay in her community this does not stop them if they choose to search out for their mates. If a male is taken from a small village his village will rejoice at such an honor, or be in disperse depending on what Queen favored one of their country men.

Oh and one last thing, just so you know, because of the extreme imbalance of female darklings to draw nutrients from food and the constant struggle to just survive it is not the female that lays the eggs. Yes that’s right. It is the males’ job to lay the eggs. I do have this all fleshed out, but I felt it may set the wrong tone for the game to do so. There are the 4 P’s of studhood: To provide (either for your mate or your village), to protect (those you hold most dear) to pleasure (your mate and your mate alone), and to produce (the next generation)

Male darklings have a gestation period of 4 months, once the eggs are laid its another 2 months that the male has to keep them warm before hatching. Female darklings reproductive system is the same as a human’s, it is the males that is different. Anatomy wise a human would never see a difference between male darklings versus male humans by just looking at him. Well… the darkling would be bigger.

Flying darkling males can have 1-4 eggs. Anything more than 1 makes it hard to fly, 3 makes it impossible. Tanks can have 1 to 6, but right now its rare to have 1 in a 100 year span. When having an egg, tank class grow bones over their abdomen like a flexible rib cage. It makes it hard to bend over but it keeps the eggs from being destroyed when being hit in the stomach. Darkling males have cycles in which they want to lay eggs. They can want to lay eggs every 5 years or every 20,000 years.

Lastly, because of the gestation period a female may only snack before her mate lays eggs. Unless he is to bear a full clutch of eggs, then she will not feed at all. As the male is supporting his unborn ethlings and his female, the are often made to relax and stay at home while their females provides them with everything they need.

Unnom Vs. Selarians

Unnom are your utopian kind of society. They live and let live. The Unnom have only one mate. Male darklings are equals in their society, and if a female committed a crime against a male or their husband, she will be punished harshly. Mainly because she is more powerful and should know better. An example of a crime is; a female darkling breaking her bond to her mate. Unnom females are never allowed to pursue after males that they like because they could accidently cast magic on them to make the male’s affections turn in their favor. Thus male darklings are the only ones allowed to make the first move. There are many laws that make both male and female equal. If a Selarian female is born to an Unnom family they’re killed. Unnom are very peaceful otherwise

The Selarians are a lot nastier. They used to live in isolation, and killed other darklings that go into their territories. Their born killers and look for any reason to kill something. It can be as small a reason as just existing. They were psychotic. Selarians have not changed much other than they are now forming villages. They are often entirely concerned about letting their perfect dragon blood becoming diluted. Selarians are known for having ten or twenty mates, and male darklings have no rights at all. They do not even count as being living things to a Selarian. A male darkling was lucky to be just a plaything. Selarians still have only one male they drink blood from though, but they break the bond long before it ever gets started. Selarians are known for breaking the eggs that smelled like they were going to be born males. Because males are a dime a dozen and aren’t worth the effort to raise. The Selarians break males into two groups; breeders and blood-bags. Blood-bags (flyers often) were males that they thought were the best looking males, but where never worthy of having kids. Breeders (tanks) weren’t always attractive but they were the ones that where allowed to have ethlings. Selarian’s never let their males hunt, thus the males are entirely reliant of their mates or mothers bringing them food. Many females do not care, thus hunger drives males to fight each other; and out of starvation eat a son, a brother, a sire, or a defenseless egg.

While Unnom’s would celebrate a male darkling making it to god status, the Selarians would find this grounds for war if the god male not be destroyed immediately. Selarians view the god male as a sign from an old prophesy as the beginning of the end of the Darkling existence. While Unnom view it as a renewal of life.

Prophecy of Chaos: The goddess of Destruction, the most beautiful creature ever to have existed. She would take the first and only male God as a mate, and that their child would be the most ungodly, powerful female darkling ever born. A God that was so powerful, that no other god would ever come close to her power. A darkling that was both Unnom and Selarian. Her power would be legendary. She would need several mates to feed from to be all powerful; her strength would be so great. She would be called the Goddess of Chaos. And with her birth would mark the end of all darklings.

Goddess of chaos will find a human mate of her own choosing. A human man, called the Pariah. When she finds her mate she will make him her bonded mate for all eternity. And with this guardian by her side, she will recreate darkling kind as she sees fit. This will cause chaos to around the world and the human race will be whiped out.

Because of this prophecy, Darklings know that should a human mate with a darkling, he or she will become a darkling themselves. Under very extreme circumstances this has truly been tested. A long, long time ago; after a terrible storm, a young boy was found on the shore by an Unnom village male elder. He took sympathy on this child. The elder kept him as one of his own ethlings and throw him into teaching circles with the other young children of their village. Thus the human child grew up as thou he was a darkling himself, as a tanner in the village. He even contributed his blood to the single females of the village and married a pot maker. Talonless was the name given to him because of his lack of claws, and the Male elder’s warped since of humor. One that Talonless often berates him for. “My sire’s humor is like a single post in a field; useless, pointless, and no one knows who put it there.”

Relationships:

Darklings in Yxalz mate for life and since darklings are eternally youthful and externally hard to kill, pick your mate well. Once a darkling choses a mate they are mated for life the fist night they truly commit the act of sex. It could take 5,000 years before you find your mate, it could be one million years before your eternal mate is even born, so ‘the kiss’ helps curve sexual appetites as anything considered foreplay by human standards is considered mild flirting.

Darklings think nothing of females and males bathing together in the community bathing pools, but it is very improper for a male to walk in public without his throat collar. Think of a male going out without his throat collar like your sister, or daughter going out in a mini skirt so short her underpants show from back and front while just standing. It is highly frowned upon in all darklings society. So never show your neck to any female except upon your mating night boys, unless you want to be known for having a bad reputation.

Bond: The bond is to never be broken! This is a feeling, a longing, a deep understanding between two darklings that the universe made them just for each other. When a female darkling drinks the blood of a male darkling a bond can instantly form. The bond can let 2 darklings feel what the other is feeling, hear what they are thinking, and share in each other’s knowledge. Males can even share the power of the one they have bonded to. When a bond is established it is considered a given that these two will be mated for all eternity until death they part. The bonded feel as though they are still two people but now they are two in one body. They always carry their one and only with them and are never alone again, even when they are a world apart. Females always know when their males are in trouble and will be by their side come hell of high water, for this is their one and only for all eternity. It is the females one true job to keep her male safe. A broken bond leaves both parties feeling as though a part of their soul has been ripped away and in the case of death of a bonded pairs, the surviving darkling often loses the will to live.

Darklings are very animalistic in the dating scene. Males that feel as though they found their life mate will give off a territorial scent to let rival males know, it is frowned upon, but like all dragons darklings horde what they see as theirs. The longer a male or a female waits to mate when the whole village is very well aware of their bond the more the waiting darkling gets territorial over the one prolonging.

Darklings in Rabinaster are selarians, another large darkling village that is more of a city by human standards, does not view males the same way. In Rabinaster males are the weaker sex. They are slaves to provide food and ethlings. In Rabinaster tank classes are only used to birth eggs, as they are considered too useless and ugly for much else. Females do all the hunting and remain always untied to any mate they have. It is taboo to bond with a male and it’s just unnatural to only have one mate. Flyer males on the other hand are unique to any other flyer in all of Pliqut. They are bread to be beautiful, refined, and have the most gorgeous blue-green feather display of any male. Much like a peacock, they can hardly fly for the weight of their feathers, but the best of them are brain washed. Some of these males will actually receive an education. Rabinasters Queen feels that males are commodities that are merely something pretty to look at but have very few uses. Those that do serve a higher purpose are brainwashed into believing that they truly are nothing more than just whores to be traded among females for political favors.

Pashuk is the 3rd and last of the large darkling settlements, yet another selarian city that treats all living things far worse than the Rabinasters. Males are soulless vessels to lay eggs. To bond is illegal and punishable by death. The cruelty of the Pashuk Queen is rumored to be the stuff of scary stories to get ethlings to behave. But in all probability the rumors are very much true. Little is known about the Pashuk as they keep to themselves and no one ever travels or leave their city. Only Queen Iccer ever leaves the stone walls, and only for political reasons. Needless to say they are far more fundamental Selarians than the Rabinasters

The Pushuk Queen: She, before Yxalz’s new queen was discovered, was the strongest queen of all Pliqut. Not long after her rain started as Queen males were banned to go on diplomatic missions to Pushuk because if she would favor them they would never return home alive. She once took favor with the Rabinasters Queen’s head patriarch male. So she went to Pushuk to honor the queen’s new reign and offer allegiance, she then took him forcefully into the new Pushuk’s queens herd. The Rabinasters Queen demanded his return because he came from. He was the best of their breeding and he was the best of her egg layers, but he was returned to her over years, feather by feather, then bone by bone

Now with all that mentioned darklings do not have to mate for love. Sometimes a bond can be snubbed in preference for a higher position in the village, such as the prestige of being mated to the strongest male or strongest female in the village. This could be for the fear of the bond and the pain and mental anguish of losing your one and only. It could be that a darkling wants a political mate to gain favor for their hatching village. Some do not want to wait for their bonded to show up in their life and will be content with someone in their life who may not be perfect for them but just be content.

Your bonded dies: Any darkling that loses their bonded will die of depression and heart break. If there are children involved. the surviving parent will live long enough to see their ethlings to mating maturity and then slowly waste away, until one day they are finally released from their torment. It has only been known once for a surviving partner to remate.

Affection:

Darkling affection is different from humans, as they do not kiss instead they lick. Where they lick is equivalent to where humans kiss. Darklings never lay hands on friends or mates. Hands have claws and claws are for hunting and killing. Thus, even when standing on two legs, a shoulder bump is equivalent to a pat on the back.

To touch a tail at the base, is like walking up to a male and grabbing his man bits, or walking up to a girl and grabbing her boobs in humans. The rest of the tail is kept to the self ,unless to touch by a loved one. Tails are principle and can be used for many things, since there is a clitoris under both male and female tails, who touches and who you touch with it can mean volumes.

A male darklings neck is considered as sacred as a woman’s underpants. They wear collars around their necks at all times. They are usually made of leather for every day and metal for special occasions. Only when they are in their own private room is it acceptable to take the collar off. Beware that you can shame your family and be sent to jail for indecent exposure without it. Why is this in the affection section? Never take your collar off for a feeding. Only one darkling is to feed from a male’s neck and that is his mate upon his mating night. Some females may try to tempt a male to take it off, ones who find it fun to break the rules when they don’t have to suffer from the consequences. The current ruler’s daughter is guilty of this many times over.

Why is a male’s neck so sacred? The male neck has just as many nerve ending as his studhood.

The three major cities:

Pushuk- the northern mountain range shore of Pliqut. It is very rocky and harsh. Pushuk is constantly hunting in Yxalz territories for food. Every home, wall, and bed is made of stone. Surprisingly though by setting fires in the middle of the stone rooms it heats the stone homes from the floors up. To the Pushik power is everything and brains, no matter how smart, can stand not a chance to a raging killer.

Rabinaster- This area is a combination of Roman and Italian villa with the bigger more important buildings decorated heavily in foliage and flower carvings, not dissimilar from India. Their area is very tropical and incites at first glance a pleasure house. Their territory encompasses the crater that takes over 1/ 3 of the continent. Because of their selective breeding program many Rabinasters are flight darklings, and the very rare and guarded secret of the 3rd body type: Swimmers. They do not focus on power or strength as they do the mind and scheming.

Yxalz- Sees everything in balance and everything has a place in life. You must exercise your brain as well as your brawn to be strong. Yxalz sees every job no mater how lowly it may be as an art form for those that do it well. Their area is forested with a small grassland is disputed over by the Pushuk.

Pushuk, Rabinasters, and Yxalz each have a Queen that is the strongest of their territories, they also have a male (most often the war commander) called the Sarpental. He is the strongest and best solder of their major city. In the past 26 years Yxalz has had the biggest shift in power and taken Pushuk’s Queens total reign away. With Malicath and Rigg (the Pushuk tank fighter) constantly trading ‘strongest’ with each encounter. Now the new Queen is immensely stronger than any queen know in darkling history.

There is a lot of animosity between Pushuk and Yxalz as their cultures conflict. Pushuk is viewed as a giant torture city full of mass murderers. Pushuk sees Yxalz as nature loving, soft shelled lizards that would be discovered if it weren’t for Pushuk patrolling the coast for any human cast aways.

Because of the shift in power, Rabinaster and Pushuk often unite in any political conflict against Yxalz. Yet Rabinaster tries not to burn any fly-paths to Yxalz as it is never wise to anger a Yog-bear when you’re a mouse.

Feral:

Why are ferals so dangerous? They are darklings that have grown up outside of any darkling influence. They are, for one, considered so sexually frustrated that they would attack any female they saw and take her against her will. They have never given blood and would not know the sweet release of the kiss. They are thought to have gone insane with loneliness and can never be fixed.

The last feral that was ever seen, seemed to be doing well until he seemed to snap under the pressure of learning so much all at once and killed female, male, and ethlings alike. Your current queen happened to be visiting the small village and ended the slaughter before more were killed.

Regeneration:

While a full round of bullets will not stop an average darkling male or female, a bomb strapped to the head would. Severed limbs or a total de-boning could take a week for a female to regrow if she is low on reserves, a male could heal with a simple large meal if low on reserves. If several limbs are severed the first to grow back will be the ones that allow for the darkling to get away. A male that is very healthy has strong scales that are pretty much bullet proof. Few females have such a luxury but that is where they get creative with magic.

Example: if a drake were to lose a leg and a wing they will grow back a wing as they would be able to fly away easily and get quite far. If a leg were to grow back, their balance would be off and would not be able to run as effectively.

Goddesses are very different, while lack of blood alone can cause slow death, a bullet to the brain would not.

Example of perfectly fed Goddess’s endurance: It was like one of those old horror movies from the human world. Until they saw it for themselves, the boy’s in the hunting party could never imagine something like this happening in real life. Being dissolved alive by bases. It was sobering, and heart breaking. Something this awful had never been reported on a hunting trip into enemy territory before at all. They were at a lose as to decide what to do next. They could continue, but the enemy was aware of them, and truthfully none of them felt like going on with the hunt. That and neither male could talk Emsl away from the puddle of liquefied remains that was his queen and mate. Emsl just sat at the edge of the pond of flesh and blood, saying, “Kqui will come back. She always does. I don’t wanna leave her behind.”

As the day gave into the night and the midnight moon crept over the trees, Emsl felt his heart fill with more despair. His angel of mercy couldn’t be gone. He knew it. There was no light. She’d been in pain, but her sole hadn’t been released. He felt like it was still there. Emsl felt it in the bond. But why wasn’t she coming back? His heart began to twist. He sat there in the woods with his knees to his chest, tail wrapped tight about his feet, and his arms folded on top of them waiting. His pink eye starting to give in to the tears, “Kqui? Come on babe. I know it hurts but your startin’ to scare me... ya’ gotta come back. I’m sorry. I’ll do better at protectin’ you. Give me another chance. Please…”

Emsl hid his head in his arms. The forest was so silent that the moon could hear Emsl plead, but it didn’t seem that anything else did. While Emsl hung his head in despair over his lost lover, the pool of primordial ooze began to stir. He didn’t hear it at first over his sobs. When he did, it was like waking up from a bad dream into a nightmare. By this point there was a heart beating in the middle of the liquid death. It was weak and bit feebly, but it slowly and gradually got stronger. A spine began to form separate from the heart. And then a brain. From the middle of the lake shot up two tall prongs, then two more, and then another. It took Emsl a while to understand that what he was seeing was the bones of arms. The tissue of muscle and tendons crept up the arms until they were able to move, and they lifted the spine out of the soup. Walking it over to the heart and brain so that they could reconnect. Once the brain had reattached to the spine, the spine lifted its long neck and the beginning of the front of the skull was glued to the front of the brain. Red light down in the skulls eye sockets dimly flickered as it cowered up at Emsl.

She was in pain.

Kqui was in so much pain for him. Emsl pleaded for her to come back to him selfishly, and she obediently complied. Ashamed of the state she was in, ashamed that he had to see her like that. Dripping and slimy, in a stew of her own biology, she still feared what he’d think of her.

The light of life refers to the dragon soul leaving the body, appearing as wisps of light rising off the corps. If a darkling’s hand is severed and the body grows a new limb, the old limb will turn to ash and the light of life will sparkle off. Sometimes, and is most often the case, Darklings will hold severed limbs to where it was but and they can only reattach it to their own body. Thus saving the energy needed to regrow a new limb.

Venom:

Like all magical creatures darklings have rules and laws of the magical universe that they have to abide by. Drinking blood has rules too. If a female does not have the consent of a male to drink his blood it is called venom. Believed to be a poisoning of the blood venom will cause veins to go black and become very visible and a female becomes what humans would call high. And no matter the race it is always a violent high, like meth. Few females would ever attempt such a thing and the few that have greatly disliked such a total loss of control. Some in Pushuk are know to partake in venom parties. Venom gives less energy than freely given blood by 2/3.

Ravenous:

This is a female darkling that is so close to death do to starvation that she has reverted back to her most primal dragon state of mind and will just EAT! Males that see a female that looks too thin to them, they will run to their villages and find a solder that appears stronger than her to take care of the problem. Think of them as a Zombie that will eat anything it can get its hands on, even healthy females. They go after far more than blood, and thank the gods that most darklings can detach their tails, leavening a very boney meal behind to escape.

Your Home of Yxalz:

Yxalz is the largest village of Unnom darklings on the continent. But the Unnom people have more small tribes, all lead by their own goddesses. Yxalz is a woodland village where most homes are lifted into the trees with rope bridges spanning each home and building. Some earth bound families live in what could be called hobbit wholes that are just as elaborate as the root systems of the trees in the forest. Your queens live in the largest tree in the forest, since this tree has no carvings on it, was shaped from a seedling into the church like structure it is today. Carving homes would kill the trees so one of the many art forms is that of tree crafting to make trees grow into the decorative forms that Yxalz is know for. These trees have even been grown to have rooms and hearths on the inside. There are no ladders or stairs into the treetops as even earth bound darklings can climb the trunks without damaging the bark. There is only one structure made of solid stone in Yxalz and that is the jail on the far end of town.

Your village is having a very exciting time. 26 years ago a very large darkling egg was left at your Queens door. This was just too odd and bizarre for any village to abandon an egg in this day and age, as very few villages are having very few eggs. Even Queens are hardly having any eggs with their mates and no one knows why. But this egg that was dropped off 26 years ago hatched, and had twins inside. Now things made some sense, no male darkling has ever lived to give birth to twins as the eggs are far to large to birth. But how did the egg make it into your village, because no males died in your village, and the nearest Unnom village isn’t close enough for the mother to abandon it without it getting cold and dying. Yet no other village that is allied to Yxalz had a mated pair die or vanish. Could the egg have come from a Selarian village? Then the mother may have had a forbidden bond and wanted the only thing her mate was able to give her to be raised Unnom?

Whatever the reason the Selarians did not want the egg as there was no way of telling its bloodline or heritage. Thus the egg was hatched by the Elder male, one boy and one girl, the Queen and elder male had their own children to raise as potential Queens. The 2 children were given to the community to raise. One male, Hepto, and his mate took the 2 hatchlings in, as they had no children of their own. Hepto is still, even today the village war leader, soon to be replaced by his foster son Malicath. Once he got the experience necessary to take command. Malicath’s sister Marick is in line to be the new Queen of Yxalz as her tail is 7 feet long. The longest ever known. She has been taught and trained, since her tail matured to be queen, and now that she is 26 she has been looking for her mate.

Like many Unnom queens she chooses to find her one and only in life. Due tothis she is also able to prolong her ascention to leadership, because her mate will take the role of Elder male (he doesn’t have to be older than everyone else but he is an advisor to his mate and educated by the previous elder male. Much like the US president has the knowledge of past presidents).

Both Pushuk and Rabinaster are sending their best males to the village in hopes that they would catch Marick’s eye as a mate. Pushuk suitors are starting fights every chance they get, but at least the Rabinasters mostly behave themselves until they get into the political conferences. Many have undergone the mating ritual, but all have been turned away from the Queens nest every morning and sent home.

Six months ago the queen went on an outing alone, being very independent and being very well known for her intelligence, to find her one and only. But many times these outing have never lasted more than a month at the most, yet this time she was gone for 5 months. Many were worried. Some were about to launch a full out war on Pashuk for the kidnapping of their up and coming ruler, when Marick came back. Yet there is something more fascinating about this story, that many are kept in the dark about.

What you do know, is Marick had ventured to the northwest most content. She had been following a dream she had. that her bonded partner was there. There was a human civil war going on, your future queen had been hit in the wing by a ‘shell’ and was downed. She had to change into her pure form (as she is one of the few that has no human most form) to dress the wound, and hid under a downed tree until it healed. As she had been without a blood meal for so long it took quite some time to heal, and she wanted to conserve her power incase she was found. But of all darklings; Marick is the sneakiest, quietest, and a master of hiding. Magic power aside, she is the only one that can spank her brother in a fight any day of the week and that would include sick days.

As the civil war progressed, closer and closer the day she felt that she could finally leave and fly off. A human scout, in uniform fell through the downed tree and landed squarely on top of her. Just as she was going to kill the man, her claws stopped as she caught a whiff of him. How could it be possible that this human smelled of darkling? Very confused by his smell… she changed into her war form and ran, starting her long journey home, sticking to the plan of running back until she just had to fly over the ocean. After the third night, she stopped to rest, but the next morning she awoke to something rushing in her direction through the underbrush. The longer she ran, it amazed her how this human was able to keep up with her on his own. Every morning when it was just close enough to see her it would shout and make all kinds of human noises are her that she didn’t understand.

Figuring she would lose this human over the ocean she resolved to never think of him again. Once she spread her wings at the beach, all she could do was think of him. She figured she would bring a male tracker of Yxalz’s hunting party and track this human down. His smell was so distinctive that there would be no question of tracking him once he turned back. Thus your queen returned home, and after a weeks rest and strong blood, she planned to leave the village.

When the day arrived that Marick was to leave, a feral male darkling showed up along the mountain beaches heading for Yxalz. A darkling hunting party had tried to communicate with him but the feral had no idea what was said to him and was dressed in torn human clothing. The hunting party mistakenly thought him human until his fire red scales emerged from his back and he spread his black claws at their approach.

Then Malicath went out with his sister to see this feral, he was matched swing for swing until Marick walked out into view. The feral was so distracted by her presence that Malicath got a good swing in and the feral fell to the sand out cold. Malicath wanted to finish the job he started but his sister stopped him, this was the human she had told them all about, and asked for the feral to be brought to the village and jailed until the raining queen could figure out what to do with him.

Many in Yxalz suspect that what stayed Marick’s hand, was that the feral is her life partner. And all suitors from Pushuk and Rabinaster are in a rage that some wild darkling from one of the other continents could take what they view as their rightful position. From what Marick and everyone else can tell he is able to make himself look so human that he has hidden among them without them ever knowing what he truly was. Yet he seems to have no war form. Hepto is currently trying to communicate with the feral, last anyone had heard of him. Hepto has spend many days in the jail doing who knows what, and your future queen had not seemed to visited the cell by request of you current ruler. Malicath has made his position quite clear in regards to the feral, if he tries anything funny to his sister, as the feral has only eyes for her. Malicath will have zero tolerance when it came to his sisters well being. This was similar to how he has treated all of her suitors.

Pushuk and Rabinaster want the feral destroyed, as he is considered dangerous and threatens the darkling way of life. That he could have been raised a spy, to let the humans know where the darklings hid and so on. The community of Yxalz believes that they want him out of the way for their males to mate with their soon to be queen. Yxalzeans would rather see their queen end up with a feral than a pompous feather duster or a cruel hot head, neither of which could find their own food to save their lives. [/center]
