Aside from that, contests are supposed to be fun ways for entrants to share their writing with other people, as well as win prizes. Making all entries private defeats that purpose.
I can see Raneth's point here. I mean, I understand you could get the idea and write your own stories, but there are like many keep stories. And there is many vampire kind of books.
I can understand you may want your entry to be original and stay like that forever, but.......

I see nothing wrong with being inspired by another person's writing. It happens all the time. Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys? Inspired by Jane Eyre. Too many works have been based on Shakespeare to count. Hundreds, if not thousands, of stories are reinterpretations of fairy tales. As long as there's something that makes it original, I don't think inspired by = plagiarism.

That's why I decided to make another thread for them. We'd just...kinda debating the pros and cons of such, I guess, since it had already been decided. ^_^

True. I just want the author to come up with the idea by themselves for this one. They can incorporate different ideas from different authors, but then base idea must be their own.

Let me know if I'm not making sense or disagreeing with you, as I agree completely. I'm reallytired, so I may be rambling rightnow.
I will be on a school field trip to Washington, D.C. until Friday, June first. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Maybe I missed something but, I didn't see anything that said being inspired by anything was wrong.

As a note, I'll probably be stalking this till the contest starts cause it looks like fun. :italian:

This looks good, and I like those prompts. I think I'll enter :)

Also, if you hadn't already noticed, your banners are ready (finally). I swear I'm just too lazy for my own good.

I believe I am going to join this! This will be good practice for my competition at school for something similar to this. :) I'm in!

I like the idea of this, so I will likely join. I've already got a story in mind for one of the prompts.

I also agree with Raneth; as a mod, I vastly prefer contest submissions to be public. That way, no one can say you gave the prizes to someone who didn't even write a story.
