I'm going to drop out of this month's contest, because magistream fan-fics just honestly aren't my thing. But, once you've got all this figured out and have a theme I like, you can count on me entering.

Ok, please don't through any tomatoes at me, leaking roofs, shotty phone lines and INCREDIBLY slow phone company workers(you know who you are...) and sick family among other things are the reason for my unplanned hiatus.

Anyway, as this thread has been neglected far too long, I am ending the current contest(not the whole MWC!), judging and awarding prizes. I may/may not run a SHORT Halloween october poem contest(if so, then it will most likely have more common pets seeing as it was a short contest), and then back to normal for November. I apologize so so much for the issues. All stories currently submitted will be judged and awarded with prizes in my Contest Prizes tab. Any leftover will be saved for the next contest. November will have a non-magistream theme.

For those wondering, I will be judging by myself at least for this contest, as I think it would be better to just judge them and get the awards out, seeing as it's had to wait so long.

Placings will be up as soon as I finish judging, and I'm starting now.

I'm glad to see this isn't dead and am looking forward to seeing the outcome (and now you can post the winners without having to double-post).

Okay, so placings. Only ended up with two being entered, though.

I love the way you write. Flowed nicely, and you only had one or two grmamar/spelling/punctuation mistakes. I like the whole 'forbidden love' idea and how Yllianna had to be so secretive, and I also like how in-depth the setting and most of the characters were described. I do wish I knew a bit more about Anthyvus, though. Overall a very ncie story, and a wonderful writer, but it does leave me wondering what happens in the end - a tragic end for Anthyvus, or a happy fairy tale ending for Yllianna and her love? Unfortunately I couldn't help it ending there, but overall a nice story.

VERY good grammar/spelling/punctuation, and it flowed together very smoothly from sentence to sentence. However, I do wish there was more explanation and that the characters were more developed. For example - what did the 'Dark Magi' do to be believed so evil, and why did Kate have so mcuh compassion for one believed to be evil? Why was she chosen by the Dark Magi? What did she mean about not being any more evil than she? Several questions left unaswered - why was it Ironhoof's job to guard the tree? I feel it ended rather abruptly with those still hanging, but you are a very nice writer overall, I hope to see more from you in the future.

It feels great to win something. I know that I didn't end it, and I probably won't find the time to. But I am looking forward to judging the November competition, and if I may say so, I think you should start it right now.

As for the November contest, I was actually planning on starting it the second I was on on November 1st. Which should be directly after midnight my time(CST). That's how I was hoping to run them, start it bright and early the first day of each month and end a little before the end of the month to have time to judge. Thoughts?

I think this is a great thread, but I think you should update the first post with the current contest and everything, so people who want to participate don't have to go searching for it. just a thought

The new contests are going to be put in new threads, the old one is just up while we discuss things until the new one starts. ^^
