Go to the home page of the Stream. Wait for a egg to float along that looks cool to you. Click on it, and you have yourself your first creature!

A question about families: I would like to create my own lineage, but I'm unsure if the progenators need to be unbred. If the progenators have been bred prior to the creation of the lineage, will the prior offspring show up as part of the family?

They don't have to be unbred, and no, they won't show up.

Someone PLEASE be so good and tell me something: Is "Give me somethign random for my creature, I don't care what, just anything you want to throw at me" really forbidden?
I mean, if I just want somethign random for a creature... is that a bad thing???

If you asked in the Merchant District? Yes, it is forbidden, as I understand the rules. You're supposed to
be specific about what you want to trade, to avoid anyone being taken advantage of, and so that no one can claim they were cheated later on. Haggling or asking for offers (outside of a LTB thread), isn't permissible.
It hasn't been for some time now.

Actually, I'd allow "anything" as a price for the creature if you are really willing to take the first thing someone offers for the creature, even if it is a 15th generation inbred Koi named Fish...
