no, you actually need an UNRELATED mate - creatures from the same lineage will not breed with each other. any unlineaged creature of an appropriate species and opposite gender, or creature from a DIFFERENT lineage, will give you an egg (with luck), and the egg will be of the lineage (if you are breeding with just the one) or either (if you are breeding two different ones).
also, once you set up a lineage, that starter - "Progenitor" - pair will no longer be able to breed with anyone but one another - they are now mated for life.
(also, ShaiNeko, the initial offspring of a Progenitor pair are the first gen - their offspring are the second.

Yes, I know that, what with having bred lineage creatures myself. :t-facepalm: What I was saying was get a creature based on what you wish, as some people like the generations of creatures to match. First gen to first gen, second gen to second, and so on. But some people like to get stream born or shop born mates for their lineage creatures, no matter what gen the lineage creature is. In short: Just get another creature and you can breed.
Why do people like to make things overly complicated....

as long as the person gets the info they need...one that puzzles ME, though it may belong in "glitches"...why shown-breedable creatures sometimes (and sometimes often, lol) come up as "one or both of these creatures are unable to breed" on attempt - and then are reset, as if they HAD bred or been "uninterested", to another 72-hour hold. as far as i know, creatures that are genuinely unable to breed don't come up as mate options to begin with. wie getz?

It seems as if it was done by accident. We had a report in that thread...sometimes, it happens; we hit the wrong button -- though, it's very rare. XD

The topic has been unlocked since I see no reason for it to stay locked. :italian:

An idea why this was locked?

19-reindeer-games/89804-break-sentence.html

I went to edit it, but then it wouldn't let me. O_o

When something gets locked, you can't post OR edit your posts on that thread. I'm not sure why it was locked, but it might have something to do with there already being a game like it.

Ah, no. Just get a first gen or stream born or shop born, whatever works for your lineage, and breed. An egg from the pairing will be a second gen and will carry the family name.
This is the message I get every time I try it:
One of those creatures is a progenitor of a family. They can only breed with the other progenitor.

Are you trying to breed two progenitors of separate families? (Do they both have last names, which are different?) As mentioned before, progenitors can only breed with each other once they've been mated.
EXAMPLE:
Bob Smith cannot breed with Lisa Jones.
Bob Smith can ONLY breed with Karen Smith once they've been bred-together and formed a family.
Joe Jones can ONLY breed with Lisa Jones once they've been bred-together and formed a family.
BUT...
Any of the Smith children can breed with any other creature (except progenitors) INCLUDING the Jones children. BUT the Smith children CANNOT breed with Joe or Lisa. (and vice versa with the Smiths)

your progenitors (starting pair that you gave the lineage name) can breed with each other ONLY - it is their offspring, the ones that say "first gen", that are bred out to either nonlineaged or other-lineage mates, to produce the next gen. crossing back to the parents, or related (same gen) creatures will not work.
