Question on purchasing from other players...

Post by Sanax »

What happens if you purchase something from a player, and in their sale listing, they have 'rules' listed for the pets? Like... "if you buy these two pets, do not breed them together," or "if you buy this pet, do not start a lineage with it."

Do 'rules' like that, which are set by players who are selling things, need to be followed? I thought that once you buy a pet, you can do with it whatever you want; the seller can't tell you what you can and cannot do with a pet they sold to you, once it's in your possession.

Or do the 'rules' set in a sale thread by a player fall in line with the sale agreement? Like how if a player asks for 150k for this pet that they're selling and the buyer asks to buy it, now they're both obligated to uphold their end of the transaction. If I were to buy a pet from someone who says not to make a lineage with that pet, or to not breed these two pets together, would that count as part of the sale agreement and I cannot make a lineage with that pet or breed them, if I were to buy it?

I'm kind of confused about it, because I feel that once you buy something, it's yours, you can do whatever you want with it. But in this case, if the seller lists specifics on their thread, and if you buy it, you'd be expected to follow what the seller wants, since you knew the stipulations before buying?

Can someone clarify this or clear it up? I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense; it's confusing for me too.

Technically no they can't actually enforce the rules once the creature leaves their account because yes, once you buy it it is yours to do with as you please.
But it's like, they're selling it to on good faith that you won't, for example use it to start a lineage. You still can but they might not look upon you to favourably and if you keep breaking their rules they might throw you on a blacklist and refuse to to business with you.

So it's like, they would prefer you not do these things, but they can't actually enforce it.

I mean, for example I have rules in my sitting thread of how I would like people to post their codes, but I can't *actually* enforce them. I can however opt not to do business with someone till they follow the rules (such as I won't accept their trade/tweet their eggs till they change the way the codes are posted)
