Ok, so I'm starting to wonder about the default sort order.
NORMALLY, it seems like creatures will be grouped by species within a tab. You add another and they'll all be grouped together. If you add another species, it'll stack above or below the first, all grouped together, etc.
Lately, it seems like more and more of my creatures are being flung about the tab in completely random order. Ex. My 'sea' tab. I'll find a manta in with the kraken, or the otters in with the dolphins, etc.
I DO realize I can do a 'custom sort' and fix this - but it's slightly annoying that they don't just group with their own species automatically. Especially as this seems to be happening more and more.
Is there any known reason for this?

Re: Default Sort
Are they creatures you grew up or acquired in a trade? I've noticed occasionally that creatures I got in a trade sort funny and I figure it was because the other person used a custom sort on the part of their keep where the creature was before it got put into a trade. Once I hit default sort on my tab where the creature now resides, it sorts in the appropriate order.

Re: Default Sort
That doesn't only sort them by species. It also sorts them from oldest to newest creature (from release date).Elentarien wrote: NORMALLY, it seems like creatures will be grouped by species within a tab. Maybe that's another reason?

Re: Default Sort
Maybe? But I'm not sure because I find them scattered around. . .newest at the bottom or in the middle. It's very odd.
However, pegasi1978 mentioned hitting the default sort button again - that does seem to work. (THank you!!) I guess it never occurred to me to try because it IS on default sort, most of the time. Sort of like hitting the 'on' button when something is already on. lol Why? But yeah, this seems to force a resort and pull in the strays.
I am curious why it's doing this, though, when it was behaving so nicely before.

Re: Default Sort
If at any time in the past, the creature was custom sorted, it will be in the wrong place. But using the default button at any time will also remove any custom sort. It's just a weird way that it works.. took me a while to figure out too, but using the default button again always works.
I am in the process of moving house, so I will not be around much for the foreseeable future.

Re: Default Sort
Your error is that you are thinking that the button that says default sort is doing anything automatically when it's actually not. It's not a function that you turn on or off. It has always been this way.Elentarien wrote:Ok, so I'm starting to wonder about the default sort order.

It's just a button to press and it quickly auto sorts all creatures in the tab according to species and sorts them in order by their creature number of release date into the game. It's a button to use for when you don't have the patience to sort through hundreds or thousands of creatures in a tab.
Custom sort on the other hand, is tedious and is moving creatures one by one into a certain particular order that you want for whatever reason.
