I read on the FAQ that you can name your creatures, and that renaming costs gold. Does naming for the first time cost anything, or just when you want to rename?

Also, if you breed two creatures successfully and don't create a family, are you able to make them a family the next time they breed? And if so, what happens to any previous offspring between them if you do make them into a family; does the previous offspring suddenly acquire the surname, or does it get excluded?

And regarding posting in the forums, is there any way to "ping" someone, so that they see your message, or do you have to bookmark/subscribe to it and keep checking back manually?

1) Naming the first time is free, it's the renaming that costs money.

2) Yes. You can make a family any time you go to breed two creatures together. Creatures bred from a pair before creating the family however will not be counted as part of the lineage though. Previous offspring will simply remain as is, unlineaged.

3) No, unfortunately there's no way to ping someone. Bookmarking/subscribing to keep an eye on a thread is basically the only way.
