also the beatiery doesn't tell me what each price option at the pond does

You get the Donec Fish from Remy's Inn (Shops button)

The Koi Pond is a gold sink.. doesn't matter what amount you throw in, the results are totally random.
Personally, if I need a creature from the koi pond, I look for someone selling them in the Merchant District.
