Too many eggs

I was blindly streamcatching to get new eggs (thinking the limit was still 6) when I got the "you broke it " page. When I went back I had 9 eggs, 3 old and 6 new.

That often happens when the stream is acting up because it doesn't recognize what you got immediately. Generally, you're supposed to freeze the extra eggs that you wouldn't have gotten normally.

I had the same problem, but I have a question, if you only have 3 eggs from before, would it be O.K. to keep one egg from the frozen stream you got?

Yup, just as long as you freeze the extras.
As long as your live eggs don't exceed the egg limit (4) you're ok.
