downgrade firefox to version 56 and switch off automatic updates.
Then install version 2.3.4 of snaplinks plus (found under version history on the firefox AMO page)
The current 3.1.1 version SHOUL work in the newest firefox quantum (57), but it does not function well on all sites, hence I am still on the old firefox with legace snaplinks
