Time after time I hear the same thing.. inbreeding is no big deal and there is no way to regulate it.
WRONG! I just ran into a case of not being able to inbreed due to how lineage families are coded. I was trying to breed two members of the Crazy Fish family together, since one of the lineage rules is to inbreed as much and as often as possible.
So I think something needs to be reworked so that I can breed siblings together in the same family. Either that, or you need to quit saying inbreeding is not an issue, because obviously we have a contradiction.

Uh, where do you hear that 'inbreeding is no big deal', because I've never heard that.

Re: Lineage families and breeding
It's one of the arguements you hear on every breeding game there is. You have folk who are adamantly opposed to inbreeding and an equal and opposite group who say that they're just pixels and inbreeding doesn't matter.
Coding wise, it generally doesn't matter.. but that's what my post is about. Generally, you don't have any problems breeding related creatures together because the code only cares that it's a male and a female, the code doesn't care if the creatues are related.
However, today when I tried to breed a brother with a sister, I got this message: You can't breed two creatures of the same family. Which is telling me that you can NOT inbreed within a family. I'd like to know why and if it can be changed.

Re: Lineage families and breeding
That would probably be because most people with lineages don't want anyone inbreeding their creatures. Lineage creatures are usually free so it's a little piece of mine for those that are really against inbreeding that it won't happen to creatures they gave away.

Re: Lineage families and breeding
Thing is tho, I have creatures from two families where the lineage rules tell you to inbreed.
family/10694 the Crazy Fish family
family/6822 and the DERPADERP family
So I requested a sibling to breed with from the family owners, but the code won't let me breed the siblings. So I'm asking if that could be changed.

When the lineage system was created, Tristan took into account that the while inbreeding doesn't affect anything, the majority of people do get upset about inbreeding. That's why you can't breed members of the same family together. This is one thing where majority wins and we won't be changing it.
