Thanks to the 'mystery' aka secrecy about the candy, and what it may or may not do, I didn't buy/collect very much. Since I didn't know the candy would actually do anything, I didn't want to waste my gold on it.

Now tho, it turns out that the candy is VERY special and VERY useful.. especially since they can breed and breed true. But we didn't find out any of this until AFTER the Valentine Caravan left forever.

I find this VERY unfair.. especially since they can breed true.

Therefore, I suggest that the candies become available in Remy's Inn on a permanent basis. However, the price should be much higher than it was during the event to distinguish them one from the other. This would make things fair for everyone who either didn't know what was going on, or was not able to participate for whatever reason.

Without making the new recolors available for all on a year round basis, you will be promoting the same inflation caused by Giftborn pets from previous holidays.

As a further suggestion, I propose that new candies be created and added to Remy's for the Black Sarvains, Pink Mohlaris Elephants and Chocolate Viridis Crabs. They can be bred too, and breed true, so there shouldn't be any differences between the various recolors. If one works one way, they should all work the same way.. and they should be available for ALL, ALL of the time.

While I agree with your idea overall, historically, when such items are available, they do generally become SOMETHING. Such as the lizards and bees from that one halloween, the candies were directly eggs. It was even mentioned in the event thread that it was a good idea to hoard some for yourself. And the event ran for several days (a week?) giving plenty of time for participation, if you were going to be able to participate at all. The fact that they do breed and breed true and being a holiday event creature is no different from the white elk. They could be acquired by participating in the Christmas event, and they do breed. I really don't see how participating in the valentines event and being able to convert creatures into new creatures who breed is any different. At least the opportunity to acquire a pair of each was there, unlike the elk where you only got the chance at one of 4.

Not all event pets are available year round and that's what these recolors are, event pets. I understand not being able to get as much candy as you wanted, but that doesn't make it a problem that needs fixing.

Uh, the Caravan stuck around for the entirety of Valentines Day and well into the next day, plenty of time AFTER discovering what they did to buy more. And if people didn't know what they did, well, that's why we have forums.

And, your suggestion is confusing. You're saying to make the candies re-available, but more expensive, but NOT make the recolours available year round. Then, what's the point of making the candy come back is it couldn't be used to make recolours?? Because putting them in Remy's makes them available to everyone, year round, thus making the recolours available.
The way it is now fits your bolded suggestion fine, they're not available to everyone, just whoever has candy leftover(and the pets to turn).

Yes, the caravan stayed around for an extra day... but that was BEFORE we found out about breeding. At that point we had been told that they would NOT be able to breed. At which point, I turned a few more to use up my candies and sold the extras. Because I did NOT KNOW they would be able to breed. Had I known they would be breedable, I would have kept the extras.. and had I known they would be breedable before the caravan left, I would have bought MORE candy. However, I saw no good reason to waste gold on something that WOULD NOT BE BREEDABLE. THAT is the issue.

Because the egg/hatchling sprites were NOT done in advance is where the problem lies. No sprites, no breeding, made sense. Then suddenly we have sprites and now they are breedable. At that point the caravan SHOULD HAVE CAME BACK to allow those who didn't want to waste gold on UNBREEDABLE creatures to get more candy.

Tristan should have known better. There was so much drama when the caravan left early to begin with, he brought it back. When they became breedable, he should have brought the caravan back again. Since he didn't, I think the candy should come back permanently.

As for the rest, you are obviously misreading what I wrote. My suggestion is for the candies to be available ALL THE TIME, and for MORE candies to be created for last years recolors.

Well there are a lot of people around in the MD which offer to change pets for other, at least I've seen some. So you can still turn them. Or you could open a thread in Kaynal to ask someone to change your pets.

And I think it's a good thing that they are not available all time, also no candies for the others, since they are valentines creatures

The Egg.hatchling sprites were not done in advance because it doesn't sound like Tristan had planned on allowing them to breed. But there was so much of a demand FOR them to be allowed to breed that one of the artists took the initiative to make them, got them approved and Tristan flicked the breeding switch.
He's only human, not psychic. He didn't know they were going to be bredable either until lots of people said they wanted that.
They didn't need to be able to breed to be worth collecting/hoarding (I mean, it wasn't till recently that donis could breed and people paid real money for those, so the 'not spending money/gold on something that can't breed' argument seems, kinda moot). We have a number of event pets that can't breed and people still collect them.

Tristan has already been incredibly accommodating and generous in regards to this event. Most admins would basically say, "You snooze, you lose." What you're suggesting is to basically make nothing special and to just hand everything over with no effort put in on the part of the players. You made the choice to sell off your candy and not buy anymore. That's not the site's fault, and it's not Tristan's fault. We might as well just have no events ever, because they won't mean anything if all the pets and/or items are just handed over on a silver platter.

Originally the recolors were not going to be able to breed. That decision was changed later, after the users in the Valentine's thread asked for it. These candies were created specifically for the Valentine's event and were never intended to be in a shop year round. Please remember that this was the first year we've tried something like this and so there were snags and derpy moments. But that doesn't make this a problem. The problem that you seem to want to claim is that there won't be an endless supply of SB event pets, but that's part of the game.
