I refreshed the page a few times, but nothing happened. What's going on?

Freeze it! Those are worth a lot of gold.

If you really want it to hatch, just click it again. It's just the way the clicks add up. But it doesn't happen very often, so if I were you, I'd freeze it. They're worth a lot, no matter what species.

Just 100% eggs and hatchlings. It's a rare phenomenon.
