I just thought of something... A Firecat.. literally a cat made out of molten lava...
Egg: It appears to be made out of magma. Holding it in your hand, you can feel it's warmth yet it doesn't burn you. The magma within it seems to move as the egg ages.
Hatchling: The egg begins to form a crack and a red liquid seems to flow out of it. Shocked, you set it down on the earth and watch amazed as more lava leeks out of the growing cracks. Eventually the egg melts in the extreme heat and dismayed you turn away, thinking it was a stillborn, but turn again as you see movement in the red-orange liquid. Carefully observing it, you stiffen in complete awe as the lava begins to take the shape of a little kitten, its body consisting purely of the molten magma just like when it was an egg, its eyes are a deep coal black and it blinks curiously at you and rubs against your leg. Miraculously, your clothes do not catch fire. You hesitantly pick it up, and seeing that you are not getting burned, quickly take it back to the Keep.
Adult: Your cute little magma kitten has grown into an elegant being of purely molten magma, its claws made out of a strange metallic substance. Firecats are rare creatures, seeing as they are born and raised in a volcano in the wild, and only few sightings have been reported of a firecat seen outside of one. Domestic firecats, the ones raised by magi are very loyal, their bodies making very comfortable pillows during the frigid winter or when traveling in the chilling land of Arkene. They are able to manipulate fire using their mouths and claws, and can clothe themselves in either pure flame or lava, they do not mind the cold but have a severe phobia of water. When they feel they are about to pass on, they move to a hot or warm area, like a fireplace or volcano, and lie at the flames, their bodies slowly releasing it's hold on the magma until all that is left is a pool of lava.
However, there are some cases (more common in domestic firecats) where the lava begins to reform itself back into an egg, much like when the egg hatched and the lava formed itself into a kitten.
Well, what do you guys think? A problem with these is if they should be easily obtainable or not. Their habitat is a mild problem too but I think they can also live in the Etain desert if you can't find anywhere else. And maybe you can have a quest that involve them in Synara City. I'm not sure if I got the magma and lava parts right, the only difference is that one of them is moving
