Re: Official Creature Suggestion Thread
How about a set of pigs for the guild shops, based on pigs searching for truffles? They look for magical ingredients, the herbalist one forages for roots and mushrooms, the water one dives for coral and clams, and the dark one can find magical items in tombs and graves.

Re: Official Creature Suggestion Thread
We already have a Peryton. It was the midmonth donation creature in July 2010.

Re: Official Creature Suggestion Thread
I had an idea awhile back for a desert horse that was the personification of the phrase; “you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink.” And I thought it would be a neat critter to see out in the Etain Desert. Just a group of sand horses. And like, they like to lead people to oasis and such, thought they themselves abhor water.

I wouldn't mind more perytons though, the current one is a bit outdated and we've had repeat species before (unicorns for example) so I would LOVE for someone to make some more.pegasi1978 wrote:We already have a Peryton. It was the midmonth donation creature in July 2010.
Also I've looked up perytons before and I don't think they're from Chinese (or even an Asian) culture, Pretty sure they're European, (possibly) roman, or just plain invented by Jorge Luis Borges (an author who said he found it in an obscure medieval manuscript that he claimed was lost in a fire)

Crystal Slug
A brightly colored slug with crystals growing out of it's back. These crystals develop over time because of their diet, crystals. The crystals they eat are eaten very slowly. The coloration of these crystals depends on the crystals the slug is eating. If the slug's diet changes suddenly, the crystals growing out of it's back will have a stripe of the other crystals color.
There could be a couple colors and then they are bred to create the stripes.

Re: Official Creature Suggestion Thread
Arowana, they come in a ton of colors IRl and are the world most expensive fish, they also have some folklore to em so they would make good magical critters.
All if these traits could make for a cool rare creature, or they could have the other colors besides silver be black market exclusives.
Spoiler
The highest price one has been bought at was a human life. A man was killed in his apartment, his wallet was not taken but his red Arowana was taken and sold. The monetary price people pay for the reds is about 300K (or likely more) per fish, silvers are avaible readly and will run you about 100-1000 dollars per fish depending on how old it is and where you get it.
They used to be considered a garbage fish because they weren't very tasty so you could buy one for surprisingly cheap but they came back into style and where over-fished for the aquarium trade, they're apex predator fish and slow breeders so they never bounced back, it is now illegal to own all but the silvers in most US states and importing them is out of the question.
In china they're still quite popular, the reds are the most desirable and the breeder farms are kept like maximum security prisons to protect these expensive fish.
They're also quite hard to keep, requiring great water quality, a massive tank, and expensive food.
In olden times they where believed to be baby dragons, when they grew up they would shower a good owner in wealth and good fortune, and a bad owner would be punished. It was believed that if one died it prevented it's owner's death by dying in their place.
I don't know about the death in one's place stuff but if you want wealth then just don't buy the fish, you'll save hundreds!

This may get shot down, but could we have more flower snails? I like the Rose and Tulip snails, but there are so many other good flowers. Like Daffodils and Irises...you could end up with a garden of just snails if you wanted.

TBH I second this, having a tropical frangipani/plumeria snail and having peony snails would be so great!Silenxia wrote:This may get shot down, but could we have more flower snails?
