Do you have a favourite foreign movie?

Post by ShootingStar »

I myself recently watched Jack and the Cuckoo Clock heart.

I loved it for how artistic it looked and felt, it's style reminded me quite a bit of Tim Burton; it even had a very Burton-esque antagonist sharing a lot of similar traits to Victor from Corpse Bridge.
The pacing was a bit weird and the dubbing was terrible, but the characters all felt very compelling to me.

Tell me folks, what is your favourite foreign movie?

Note; This does not specifically mean movies subbed or dubbed in English from another language; or even a movie that was subbed or dubbed. Basically, what movies made in another language than your first, or movies originating from a culture apart from yours, did you enjoy?

Feminist; A supporter of feminism.
Feminism; The doctrine advocating the social, political and economic equality of the sexes.
It's not complicated.

I love DC comics, and the DCAU!

Chinese is my second language but also my culture... so... I quite enjoyed Saint of Gamblers. It's this story about the (mis)adventures of a guy with powers. Only works if you understand it, because I'm not sure if they managed to translate it.

If that's not allowed, 3 Idiots (Indian movie) is my favorite, and good for a laugh.

Anything and everything by Miyazaki though. Just. Yes.
Although the live action Ace Attorney movie was pretty good, i have to say.

I watched a movie called Joyeux Noel twice in high school and I thought it was pretty cool. It was in French, German, and often times hard to decipher (they spoke with a heavy Scottish accent) English. Though I'm not a huge fan of the Christmas holiday I thought this movie was still pretty cool and that it covered an interesting event in history.

Another movie I had to sit through (but enjoyed) in high school was a Bollywood film/musical called Lagaan and it had some catchy music in it that still gets stuck in my head if I think about it.

one of my favorite foreign movies is Kung Fu Hustle. it's a ridiculous martial arts comedy by Stephen Chow, and it's a live-action film with really cartoony visuals. it's about a loser guy named Sing who wants to join a gang in 1930's shanghai and ends up becoming a martial arts master, and a bunch of other stuff happens.

Well, since my native country doesn't really make movies that are watchable, all my fave movies are foreign. Most of them are in English or in Japanese. I also enjoy some messed-up European cinema from Danish, French and Serbian directors. And I enjoy watching b/w movies from the early 20th century and I like German, French and Italian movies from that period.

Oh, I got recently a few new ones after having some time looking around which are surprisingly not anime chategory:

- (American) Crimson Peak (it come being pretty close to Rinne with it going more for the thriller/psychological thriller aspects and not horror, even if it had ghosts appering it)

Chinese:
- The Mystic Nine Thetralogy - > each of the movies was brilliant ater finishing watching the series
- Mojin: The Lost legend
- Time Raiders
But the snow is blood stained,
You are the God of Death,
The Angel turns in to a Demon.

I love you even if your claws drip from blood,
Your smile is the one of a Demon on the face of an Angel

It is true...
Beauty is the Mask of Death...
