I heard about the ship crash. The captain 'tripped' and fell into a life boat. Talk about a load of bull. Tripped my ass.

Oof, no one is posting here. Has anyone heard about Jessica Ahlquist, the girl who sued the school because they had a prayer that started with O Heavenly Father? She's an atheist, and she said it violated her rights. She won the case, but she needs a police escort to school. What are your opinions?

Haven't heard about that, that's interesting actually. I do agree that people have every right not to pray along but I wonder what really was the case. Was she pushed into praying along? Couldn't she just stare out of the window during it or something?
See if she was pressurized into praying along against against her will she is in her right IMO but if she wasn't it's just ridiculous. Same goes for religious people who'd like to ban anything because it is against their religion. Tolerance goes both ways.

If she really needs a police escort to school that's just crazy; that shouldn't be necessary.

She's within her rights, as schools really oughtn't be doing the religion thing since they're government-funded.

Basically says you'll need a vaginal probe before getting an abortion.

^ WTF? What need is there for a trans-vaginal ultrasound when getting an abortion?

What about the 'food police' coming around schools saying that they can't eat a ham and cheese sandwhich, apple juice, a bannana, and then a bag of chips! There replacment lunch is three nuggets!

A reminder: you need to provide at least one link to the story being discussed so that others can read the original source material and discuss the topic too. See Cassowary's post as an example.

Symie, that is only in North Carolina.
http://www.unitedliberty.org/articles/9595-north-carolina-school-earns-national-attentionover-school-lunches

The only response I can think of:
"What the fuck. What the fuck. WHAT THE FUCK!"

This makes no sense!

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice[.]
[...]
That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home.

meat: turkey
there was no milk-- however, that guideline should be "dairy"
grain: bread for sandwich
fruit/vegetables: apple juice and banana

However, you cannot enforce the milk/dairy rule due to allergies and lactose intolerance.

Just... pure bullshit. :derp:

That North Carolina thing is ridiculous. I don't believe it's fair! And how on earth are chicken nuggets healthier than turkey and cheese? Come on... Really? What I really don't like is the fee.

Here's another story that I think is fascinating, on the subject of religion: http://www2.turnto10.com/news/2011/nov/ ... ar-846983/
Jessica Ahlquist blogged about it as well, which I think makes sense: http://jessicaahlquist.com/ The Great Tree Controversy.
